Pažaislis Monastery and other Secrets of Kaunas
Pažaislis Monastery complex – one of the most beautiful architectural sights in Kaunas and Lithuania as a whole. It fascinates the visitors by its Baroque charm and spirituality. In the XVII-XIX centuries the monastery was home for an extremely strict regula following monks’ ord. Due to this reason, the layout of the monastery grounds is rather atypical, as it was designed accordingly to the needs of the monks.
In the XVIIth century, as the Pažaislis Monastery Complex was being built, the most famous Italian architects, artists and sculptors would be working here, in the middle of Lithuanian forests. Most of the emperors of XVIII-XIX centuries have also payed a visit to this sacred place…
